Soleil, soleil, soleil - walking in Paris

°

City trip to Paris.

By train from Frankfurt in 4 hours. How cool is that then.

This time we stayed in the area close to the famous Arc de Triomphe
de l’Étoile, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre
of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Étoile—the étoile or
"star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues. The location
of the arc and the plaza is shared between three arrondissements,
16th (south and west), 17th(north), and 8th (east).

The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the
French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French
victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its
vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I. (Wikipedia)

Yes, this is Paris. Entrance to one of the numerous metro stations.

Walking in Paris! Through the Bois de Boulogne park.

Yes, behind the park there is something.

Fondation Louis Vuitton.
This building was inaugurated in 2014.
Always something new in Parisian cultural scene.

Now showing La Collection Morozov.

One of the architectural models of the exhibition hall.

Starting with a pencil sketch on a blank sheet of paper, Frank Gehry
designed “a magnificent vessel for Paris that symbolises France’s profound
cultural vocation”. The architectural journey retraces the different stages in the
creation of this edifice, which has become an iconic landmark of the French capital.

From the upstairs' terraces you have quite fantastic views.

There is a lot of space, several floors and halls.
And, despite the corona pandemic, loads ad loads of people.
Yes, you have to buy the tickets and get a slot in order to
be able to enter the exhibition. And carry with you your
vaccination proof. Of course, everybody has to wear a mask.

Unfortunately a bit too many people, it was not easy
to see all the art works.

Cool lady.

Outside, in the park, birdies.

Voila!

Jardin d’Acclimatation

After nine months of work, started on 4th September 2017, the oldest leisure
park in France has undergone its most significant transformation since it
first opened to the public in 1860. Relandscaped, the architectural heritage
restored, featuring new rides and an updated and more extensive restaurant
offering with a focus on service excellence, you will discover a park and his history.

Check this, there is this Mexican show "Día de Muertos". Yes, in November.

The park is pretty large. Such fun for kids, too.

This I call a very cool way to cover a building site.

And cool shop windows.

Romantic coffee bars. Av. des Champs-Élysées.
Would you be able to write the name of that street without
a little help of your friend google? Or a map.

Walking in Paris, entering tiny parks, short cuts.

Admiring shiny signs.

Such a coincidence: Photo fair in Paris this week!

Persons Prjojects?
Showing FINNISH PHOTOGAPHY!
Thanks for your nice invitation.

Persons Projects (formerly Taik Persons) was founded in 1995 in Helsinki,
Finland and was relocated in Berlin since 2005. The Projects has two
exhibition spaces on Lindenstrasse 34-35. The location 34, is dedicated
to those artists associated with the Helsinki School and its focus is on
functioning as their primary gallery internationally. It also serves as
a platform for Aalto University’s intern program which is dedicated
to the research and digitalization of the Helsinki Schools history and
development worldwide.

Did see the pictures of Jorma Puranen already in Berlin.
Now in Paris, wow!

This name you already know if you are interested in the
contemporary Finnish photography.
ELINA BROTHERUS.

Next day Elina came signing her books, at a German bookseller's
Kehrer stand.

Milja Laurila's Untitled women.
Not boring.

Another big name from Finland: Tiina Itkonen.

Our idea for this year's Paris Photo focuses on the 25th anniversary
of The Helsinki School, presenting a selection of new works from
six generations of Helsinki School artists.

The Paris Photo fair was actually awesome, huge, large big.
Worth visiting, but too crowded, keeping the pandemic times in mind.

Our three nights in Paris included on concert night.

Philharmonie de Paris. Inaugurated 2015.

Metallic.

Hm, interesting.

Hm. Interesting indeed.

In Bernhard
Tschumis Parc de la Villette gelegen kann sich der Neubau auch als eine
Hommage an den Dekonstruktivismus lesen lassen.

Interesting colours.
Acoustic was good, as far as we can judge.
I wanted to experience this concert hall after seeing
a French series in tv.

What did we hear?
Webern, Berg and Brahms, played by the Orchestre du
Conservatoire de Paris, direction Louis Langrée,
violon Christian Teztlaff.

Would go again to this music temple, indeed.
