Back to FRA

°

Flying over the Alps.

I love my window seat. Always.

I would say that here in the middle we see Mont Blanc.

Mont Blanc, meaning "white mountain") is the highest mountain in the Alps and
Western Europe, rising 4,808 m (15,774 ft) above sea level.

It kind of matches the route.
Some pilots are helpful and explain the scenery,
today unfortunately not.

Back to Frankfurt a pile of Christmas cards were waiting for us.
Yes, it is really nice to get some cards.
I like the stamps, too. Imagine, in 20 years from now
the kids probably do not know what a stamp was.

So, I am going to give up my card writing,
definitely donating the money spent on lousy postal services to charity.
Last xmas most of my cards needed 4-5 weeks (!) to arrive.

This ghostbike is in our street.

So many flowers and candles.

In November a terrible accident took place, a SUV hit three people on the
walk way, one on a bike and two pedestrians, two died at the spot.

The Ghostbikes Frankfurt are set up by Frankfurt cyclists in private initiative.
ADFC Frankfurt and Radentscheid Frankfurt are supporting it.

Sunny Sineu

°

Today we did a little excursion to Sineu.
Sineu you find really in the middle of the island.

The town’s biggest treasure is its history. For forty years – from 1309
until 1349 – Sineu was the capital of Majorca. At the time king Jaume II ordered
that the royal residence should be within easy reach of all citizens and Sineu
in the centre of Majorca was just the right place. When the king also granted
the village market rights, Sineu became the centre for business and trade.
Today the Wednesday market is still the biggest farmers’ market on the island.

Parroquia Nuestra Señora De Los Angeles
Let's go in.

Surprisingly bright and light, for a church in Spain.

And pretty interesting figures.

Hear, hear, cool equipment.

Artwork.

Light through the pretty windows.

Yes, holy lamb. Sacrificial?

Cool windows.

Sineu is known for its lively market on Wednesdays.
Well, mid-January, even though a sunny day, there
were not that many people around. And the market
was also limited. All bars and restaurants were closed,
some offered takeaways. Corona winter.

We'll be back when there is more action around.

Yes, it is winter, see the snow covered mountains!

Winter in Mallorca.

Today I also received a few messages from Finland.
My Christmas cards, which I sent from Mallorca on 4.12.20
finally reached their addressees in Finland today, 13.1.21.
The cards sent to Germany arrived in 5 days.
Digital greetings is the future.
