Green, green, greener

Love this. Love Kermit the Frog, too.
Anyways, we should just forget this turning the clocks thing.
Absolutely rubbish. Hopefully EU will decide soon.

Looks grayish when you collect it.

But hey, boil it for a couple of minutes and ...

... dump it into icewater: becomes green as hell!

It's called blanching. You should do it if you want to freeze garden stuff.

Blanching is a cooking process in which a food, usually a vegetable or fruit,
is scalded in boiling water, removed after a brief, timed interval, and finally
plunged into iced water or placed under cold running water (shocking or
refreshing to halt the cooking process.

Yes, Oderazzi "cooking".

Artsy nature

Nothing much going on during Corona. Kind of.

New palm tree is being delivered, all good ... tight corners managed
professionally, digging the hole very fast ... WOW.

Professionals remove the pot before the final transport.

And there it stands, the "little" palm tree. Our pool palm.

So many stones left over from the planthole.
Hm, such a pity it is not marble or sandstone,
had been prefect for some artistic trials.

Well, the nature offers loads of material for some photo trials.
Check this praying grasshopper, mantis (lat.), which greeted us on the windshield.
It actually was blown away only when we turned to the main road.

Oderazzi is getting quite desperate as not learning proper Spanish.
And then, instead of doing some proper home work
she decorates a boring pole in the garden with Spanish verbs.
Proper? Lazy, indeed.

Check this: home made vegetarian pea soup (with mint) and kanelbulla!
Thanks to Portals Nous.

And check this "mano di Buddha" lemon.
Yes, a very special type of lemon, am lucky to see the
first fruit develop this year. Takes months.
Sorry, have to post every now and then.

"Die Zitronatzitrone Buddhas Hand
(Citrus medica ‘Digitata’ oder Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis) ist eine
Variante der Zitronatzitrone (Citrus medica) mit auffällig geformten Früchten,
die an die Finger einer Hand erinnern. Gartenhistoriker vermuten, dass alle
ursprünglichen Zitrusfrüchte aus Assam vom Fuße des Himalayas stammen."

Another novelty in the garden:Saffron!!!
Our friend gave us some bulbs, I planted them a month ago
and finally at least two plants are coming up.

kuvakaappaus Wikipedia

Crocus sativus, commonly known as saffron crocus, or autumn crocus,
is a species of flowering plant of the Crocus genus in the iris family Iridaceae.
It is best known for producing the spice saffron from the filaments that grow
 inside the flower. (Wikipedia)

Finnisch für Anfänger:

SAHRAMI = Safran / saffron

Our Porto Cristo friends are becoming mushroom specialists.
So I delivered them a full collection from Dar Ahlam.
Some small, some big, some eatable, some poisonous.

AS revenge my hubby got to taste home made llampuga disches.
He loved it.
And I was totally happy with my cheese and chicken combo.
Remember my posting of 13. October? Llampuga!

Seen in a shop window. Winter is coming, also to Mallorca.
Such a cosy chair.

Wonderful wood

You have to like it. Working on wood.

In the beginning it, the piece of wood, was so heavy that I could not lift it.
And the dust got everywhere. When using the chainsaw.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

RAUTATAMMI = Steineiche / evergreen or holly oak
RAUTA = Eisen / iron
TAMMI = Eiche / oak

Thus some parts are really soft, you have to be careful.
Those light colored ones.

And then there are holes.

All the decisions you have to make.
How thin, how thick, how wide, how much whatever
and where you really have to stop.
And remember to give your arms some rest.

My new Black&Decker tool. Strip sander. 😀 Pretty happy with it.

Finally light enough to be lifted and turned and moved.

Detail. After oiling - yes, with olive oil.

With shadow.

Another detail. How beautiful wood can be.

And here she/he/it stands, in the courtyard.
Until the rains make her/him/it all gray and
another location, maybe indoors, have to be found.

Preis nur auf Anfrage.

Bye bye pine trees

Grasshoppers used to be a real threat in the Biblic times.

We had this pine drama already a couple of years ago when a strong storm
broke a couple of pine trees in down town Artá. A few trees had to be removed.
Now no weather damage has occurred but the old trees just have to go.

Work started.

Slowly but surely.

If trees could fly.

Check check all that wood ... not only for burning.

For the record.

Next to the tourist information. For the record.

Nää automaattiset käännökset on kerrassaan huvittavia.

This is the time of the year when the evening sun really
creates beautiful moments.

Well, early afternoon sun can be cool, too.
Here a view over Capdepera.

The pomegranates keep on ripening.

And the snakes keep on ... well, they try to cross our campo
but our garden help was faster!

Snake skin can be decorative.

Blue acorn in the blue trunk. Art in Dar Ahlam.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

TAMMENTERHO = Eichel / acorn
TAMMI = Eiche / oak

Here a detail of a sculpture of oak tree.
More pics in my next posting.

Corona times with makaroonilaatikko and Llampuga

Boring? Corona?

Make the best of it.

The boring morning view where the horizon is gone.

In Cala Ratjada the best tables free.

Normally, without corona, there would be a BIG party:

Well, it was raining sooooo hard, nobody was doing the Rute de la Llampuga.

(Wikipedia)

I really wanted to see this amazing fish.
Due to corona: no fiesta.

This was the thing I got to see: Llapuga with spaghetti.

In this CORONA restaurant in the port of Cala Ratjada!
BTW the pizza was really good.

Cala Ratjada, the rainy harbour.

After the rain comer the makaroonilaatikko.
Finnish food! From Palma.

Many like it with ketchup.

And the local neighbours made some buñolas!

Additionally apple crunch ... I tell you, we did have enough to eat!

And the girls were happy!
Sweet stuff and local liquer in between homework.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

LIMA = Schleim / slime

Well, as you can see in the pic, lime is a citrus plant.
Let's see if the caipirinha season can be started next year
with our limes!

Check the pomegranate.
The biggest one this year.
The question is: what should I do with it?
Friend's recommendation was to use the juice for caipirinha!

To get an idea of the size.
