Skiing in November!

°

There is a saying in Finland:
"iltarusko aamun usko
aamurusko päivän pasko"
If the evening skies are colored beautifully
the next day will be fantastic.
If the morning skies are colourful
the day will not be nice.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

ILTARUSKO = Abendrot / sunset glow

Seems to function in Switzerland, too.
View from our breakfast terrace.

A gondel takes you up to the mountain.
Tip for my not (anymore) skiing friends:
You can take this ride also without skis and enjoy
the air and the fantastic Alpine views.

Getting up.

Crossing the slope.
There was only one slope & lift open.
But that was just perfect to start the skiing season.

Parking during the lunch time.

The restaurant was busy but not too crowded.
And the Rösti was great!

We enjoyed our visit, too.
And the second visit on Sunday, too.
Because you were the only restaurant.

Of course, in November the days are short.

On Saturdays the young talents train on one side slope.
Those little kids carrying their skiing boots etc.
in those huge bags. Wow.

There are sporty people who love challenges.
The put fur kind of this on the skis and walk up the mountain.

Where other people enjoy the gondola ride, they walk.
In two hours they reach the top, more or less.

I truly enjoy the ride and the views.

And yes, I am still wearing the more than retro jacket,
I bought in Luxembourg anno domino, maybe 1987?
Serves the purpose.

We were so lucky with the weather.

But towards the afternoon the clouds started gathering.

Check check.

Monday morning, time to say good bye to our lovely hosts.
Return the skies etc.

And make space for some CHEESE.
Such a great cheese shop!

Bye bye Pontresina!
