Must look pretty when it's shining in the dark.

Such a nice day yesterday, weatherwize and otherwise as well.

Church of our Lady of Sorrows.

The church of our Lady of Sorrows has been very important place in the 

Islamic period. The construction started right after the Catalan conquest 

of Mallorca. It was built on the site of the town’s former mosque and 

has a Gothic and neo-Gothic style.

The church tower you can see from all over when approaching 

this second largest city in Mallorca.

This Christmas decoration also probably looks lovely in the dark.

Hello, mellow ... little green bottles. How creative!

Check: in the center 6 bottles and the star has six "horns".

Ramon Llull (Raimundo Lulio) wurde kurz nach der katalanisch-aragonesischen 

Eroberung durch Jakob I. (1229) im Jahre 1232 oder 1233 in Ciutat de Mallorca 

(katalanischer Name für Palma im Mittelalter) geboren. Llull war ein kühner 

Denker, eifriger Mystiker und Vorreiter in den verschiedensten Wissensbereichen. 

Er reiste durch den Mittelmeerraum, um die Unterstützung der Monarchen für seine 

Sache zu erhalten, die nichts anderes war als die Bekehrung der „Ungläubigen“. 

Seine Waffe war die Vernunft, die Ars („Kunst“), eine philosophische Methode, 

die auf der Debatte basierte und unfehlbar sein sollte. Er schrieb in Katalanisch, 

Latein und Arabisch und starb enttäuscht im Jahre 1316 mit über 80 Jahren in 

einem Boot, welches ihn von Tunis zurückbrachte, wo er hingefahren war, 

um mit den Muslimen zu debattieren.

Behind the xmas star is a statue of Mr. Antoni Alcover.

Father Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda, also known (in Catalan) as Mossèn Alcover

(2 February 1862 in Santa Cirga, Manacor – 8 January 1932 in Palma)

was a modernist Majorcan writer, who wrote on a wide range of subjects 

including the Catholic Church, folklore and linguistics. He is chiefly associated 

with efforts to revive interest in the Catalan language and its dialects. Among 

his works was a Catalan-Valencian-Balearic dictionary. (Wiki)

These pretty bells are simply made of plastic flower pots!

Pedestrian street looks similar to the past years.

This things also looks pretty good.

All the "trees" are decorated with these paper "stars" this year.

Here the main tree at the Palça del Conqueridor.

Sorry folks, even in the evening light this tree just ... sucks.

With those blue barriers.

Even my pic is not straight. Sniif.

The paper decoration has been pulled together by the wind.

As such not bad.

Well, next year new ideas, hopefully!

Ja, ich lese regelmässig einige deutschsprachige Zeitungen

auf der Insel. In El Aviso fand ich diese Anzeige.

Zwei Mal Bratwurst-Spezialitäten! Guten Appetit.

In der gleichen Publikation war ich etwas erstaunt als gleich

auf der dritten Seite frohe Weihnachten  mit einer Anzeige

von einem Bestattungsinstitut Werbung gemacht wird.
