Not much did we know about this town, Albi.
We did not even check before that the 8th of May is a public
holiday in France: the Victory in Europe Day.
Our comfortable hotel at Albi City Limits had peaceful views.
La Reserve. It was not full and the two of us kind of
were the youngest ones of the guests, noticed that
when having dinner in the evening.
Well, now we know.
Little did we know but at least we kept our mouths shut.
"Victory of the allies over Germany"
😶
Very official.
Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité.
We never heard the band playing, continued our
tour to the old town.
And there it was, unexpected ...
the huge cathedral of Albi!
Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile d'Albi
Little did we know.
The entrance already gives you a hint of the
splendid building and what it holds inside.
Audio guide, yes, but honestly, we did not have
enough time to listen to all of those stories.
Judith.
In the compact museum I had to admire those
fantastic embroideries.
There is so much to see in this church, I tell you.
PS.

The old town is on the both sides of the river Tarn.
Just a dead end alley.
Behind the cathedral the museum Toulouse-Lautrec!
And it was open although it was Monday,
but we tried to get in when they had the lunch break.
A reason to come again to Albi!
The garden view.
Les jardin de la Berbie.
Adjoining the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum, this magnificent
XNUMXth century French garden, classified as a “remarkable
garden” overlooks the Tarn offering a breathtaking view.
The garden is located within the perimeter classified as
World Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO).
Cloitre de la Collegiale Saint Salvy.
Another hidden gem.
This charming narrow street of the old town.
Adios Albi!
Our next stop was in Montluçon.
It was kind of half way on our way to Alsace.
The hotel was excellent, the town not so.
So we continued our trip.
No time for the mustard city.
And the rain kept pouring down.
Finally at our lunch destination!
Friends from Frankfurt were house-sitting.
Merci beaucoup Ms Barbara!
And the journey continued.
Reached our last hotel before sunset.
In Kaysersberg.
