Yes, hype around some ... male artists, indeed.
Oh dear, oh dear, how could that happen?
Oderazzi missed the super hype gallery opening night
in Palma: Gerhardt Braun brought Leon Löwentraut to the island!
But lucky me, got Mrs. A to join me for a gallery tour.
Of course, we started in the hype boy show.
This kid is now 23 years old, he has been painting since he was 6.
A few drawings can be seen in the exhibition, too.
Do note that most galleries now have comfy sofas around,
it must be much easier to imagine how the artworks fit
normal (?) living rooms.
Mr. Löwentraut's speciality is to paint with and direct
from the tube, producing thick lines.
In most of his paintings you can find heads or human bodies,
when you look carefully.
Detail 1.
Detail 2.
Very, very colourful.
Many, many lines.
I presume that during the opening night the artist
was allowed to play around and include the walls to his art.
You see, signed in Palma.
Wanna try this at your home? Good luck.
I highly recommend to watch the video in this link,
then you really understand why this guy is a true HYPE.
In the next gallery, ABA ART LAB we faced totally different works.
The coolest gallery in town is showing photographs
by Majorcan artist Miguel Adrover.
The artist used to be THE HYPE fashion designer in New York
late 90es early 2000es,
(Wiki)
He has returned both to Majorca to his village of origin
and has started this photo project in a cellar with old
bottles and other glass objects.
It is impossible to take good, representative photos by mobile phone
but here you can get a slight idea of his work.
You have to visit the gallery to enjoy the beauty of the photos.
In Instagram you can see a few pics:
See some interesting fashion shots in here:
Our next stop in this gallery: diamonds?
Manuel Diaz.
Yes, the speciality of this 8 years old boy from Madrid is to cover
the faces with diamonds.
Yes, I missed this vernissage as well, shame on me.
I should register in the galleries' mailing lists, I guess.
Not that I became of fan of this kind of art,
but apparently this premature kid is kind of a HYPE as well.
The oaingings are pretty large and the diamonds are sharp.
Four variations of Frida Kahlo tells us that this kid also knows
what sells in the art world.
Check for short videos of the opening night in Facebook:
After touring those three hype guys' galleries it was
time for lunch and after lunch we still visited a few
other exhibitions in the old town.
And had some interesting views in gallery premises
situated in this fantastic old buildings in Palma.
And I tell you, we were the only customers in the galleries.
