Summertrip to Finland!
Frankfurt stadion celebrating my departure? Guess not.
Bye bye Frankfurt for a while.
Finally had time to visit Pihlajasaari.
Finnisch für Anfänger:
PIHLAJA = Eberesche / rowan
SAARI = Insel / island
And why was it so important to visit this island?
Because my good old friends spend all the sunny days there.
And I can truly understand why.
The ferryboat takes you there in 15 minutes or so.
And here they are, the "cottages".
Actually cabins for changing your swimming gear.
But it is also possible to rent one for your stuff.
No, there is no space for sleeping. But you do not have to
carry all kinds of stuff from the mainland.
And the rowen is blossoming.
The sandy beach was empty even though the temperatures
were like plus 25 degrees. Water ... maybe ... 16 ...?
As you can see there are many other islands around as well.
But Pihlis is one of the luxury ones where you
do not need your own boat.
Such a typical scenery.
In the autumn all those rowens will be full of orangeade berries.
Many young families touring around.

Ferries to Tallin now operate from next door harbour.
I just wonder where the black thing lands.
On the balconies of the newly built homes? Hm.
Less fuss with the sailing boats.

Now to the cultural part of Helsinki City.
Atemeum, the exhibition hall for traditional art,
is showing the work of Albert Edelfelt.
As well as being a pre-eminent artist, Albert Edelfelt (1854–1905)
was socially skillful and spoke several languages. He travelled
widely across Europe and the Nordics and lived a large portion
of his life in Paris. While living and working in France, he met
several of the leading names in the field of arts, culture and
science as well as art collectors and dealers.
His famous scenery from the Luxembourg Park in Paris.
Oh those sad scenes.
Girls just wanna have fun. Or gossip.
The artist really loved (to paint) beautiful women.
He even visited Spain.
Ateneum also has space for some more contemporary works.
As this was my Aki Kaurismäki trip to Finland,
of course we had to go and have a drink or two with
the girls in the Buenos Aires Bar in the Eerikinkatu.
