Note to myself: check the palm trees.
Oh, such an interesting looking flying object in my garden.
With a broken wing. And kind of lost.
In Swedish it is called Palmfjäril. Palmbutterfly.
German Wiki also claims is at a butterfly:
Paysandisia archon ist ein Schmetterling (Nachtfalter) aus der Familie der Castniidae.
The English Wiki says it is a moth:
Paysandisia archon is a moth of the family Castniidae.
I personally fancy the Spanish Wiki version:
Paysandisia archon es una especie de lepidóptero de la familia Castniidae.
lepidóptero = Schuppenflügler / lepidoptereus
Lepidoptera ( from Ancient Greek lepís “scale” + pterón“wing”)
is an order of insects that includes butterflies and moths
(both are called lepidopterans). Wikipedia - the fast info.
Finnisch für Anfänger:
KOI = Motte / moth
PERHONEN = Schmetterling / butterfly
Design combo of the wings.
Paysandisia archon is a moth of the family Castniidae. It is native to Uruguay
and central Argentina and has been accidentally introduced to Europe,
where it is spreading rapidly.
AND:
The larva is whitish and maggot-like and feeds in the stems and trunks of palms.
In its natural range, the damage done by the larvae is unobtrusive and
the species is not considered a pest but the species is causing increasing
concern in Europe because of the sometimes
fatal damage being caused to native and exotic palms.
This hopefully shall I never detect.
And if I do, there will be no further photo sessions,
some killing action might happen. Might.
Great thanx to my dear friend Veltsu who very fast
identified this devil and Wikipedia gave me the rest.
