Bennássar in the East

°

More art!

Well, Torre is the restaurant serving excellent sugling pig,
every now and then you just have to eat this Mallorcan speciality.
And it's really close to our holiday home.
Of course, they have a cosy terrace. Nobody eats indoors nowadays.

Especially now you can kill two flies with one hit ... before dinner check the art.
There is an exhibition of Majorcan artist Joan Bennássar showing
sculptures and paintings in the tower building, in the Torre.

Joan Bennàssar is one of the most prominent artists of Mallorca.
He was born in Pollença in 1950. Those were a kind of dark years:
hunger was common and there was no public water nor electricity.
Nevertheless, an early talent allowed him to iniciate in painting, despite
of scarcity, thanks to his drawing teacher.

One of the best webpages I've seen - artists normally do not
invest time or money to social media:

Der Torre de Canyamel (kastilisch Torre de Cañamel ‚Zuckerrohrturm‘)
ist ein ehemaliger Flucht-und Wehrturm. WIKIPEDIA:

Huge heads.

In the Torre hall you can see the paintings.

And one sculpture.

Again my hubby had to be next to the art work so that you can see
how huge the painting is.

Outside more sculptures.

Yes, next to the tower a row of sculptures, those pretty interesting figures.

Of course it was us ... the masks are so hip nowadays.
Unfortunately very many people forget the fact that
not only your mouth but also your nose should be covered.

The artist sees women with long necks and high breasts.

The opening evening was already in July, check here for pics
of all the celebrities and the art, too:

A few years ago (2015)  Bennássar's sculptures were presented in Cala Ratjada
at the promenade. I did take many pics and even framed a few.

Check this video introducing that show:
