Like Wikipedia knows, this Three Kings' Day is in some
traditions celebrated as Little Christmas.
In Spain it is bigger than Christmas.
Big parades the night before and
huge piles of presents on THE DAY for all kids.
Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar, representing Arabia, the Orient,
and Africa, arrived on horse, camel and elephant, bringing
respectively gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus. Before
going to bed on the eve of January 6, children polish their shoes
and leave them ready for the Kings' presents to be put in them. (Wiki)
Check here how the celebrations were in Palma:
We were invited to the neighbours' house to have lunch with the family.
After the starters and interesting meatball-turkey main course
there were like trillions o f calories carried to the table.
In the pic above:
El cardenal de Lloseta es un pastel típico del pueblo de Lloseta
en la isla de Mallorca, como su nombre indica. Este postre se
compone de un bizcocho y merengue horneado que se rellena
con nata montada.
The name of this thing I still have to find out.
This sauce we have to get from the local shop.
Sounds interesting.
