Dribbde Bells

Weihnachtsmarkt in Sachsenhausen, ja!
Wallst. 11, da wo der Markt im Hof immer war.
Wen das so regnerisch bleibt, in der Halle kann man gut
den finnischen Glühwein geniessen.
Und nette Weihnachtsgeschenke kaufen.
Im Frankfurter Dialekt nennt man Sachsenhausen auch
„Dribb de Bach“ oder „Dribbdebach“, also „drüben
vom Bach“, auf der anderen Mainseite.
„Hibb de Bach“ heißt „hüben vom Bach“,
also auf der nördlichen Seite des Mains.

This exhibition "brings works of the 1930s and 1940s into focus,
in which the artist's colourful palette becomes darker".

Marc Chagall returned to Europe in 1946, arriving in Paris. In 1947, he
finished The Falling Angel (1923-1947), which had been in the works for
almost 25 years. Begun only a short time after Chagall's emigration from
the Soviet Union, it is, in a way, a unified artistic statement for these years,
expanded and built upon as Chagall's art developed. It combines Biblical
and Torah lore with the modern world and with Chagall's personal symbolism
in a juxtaposition of images that attempt to summarize the many experiences
the artist had over the course of his work on the painting.

Sehr ähnlich wie die Situation in Helsinki
mit der Finlandia Halle, wo die Marmorplatten
einfach nicht hängen bleiben.

1990-luvulla talon ulkoseinän marmorilaatat herättivät kiivasta keskustelua,
kun ne käpristyivät ja alkoivat putoilla seiniltä Helsingin säälimättömän
ilmaston vuoksi. Laatat uusittiin 90-luvun lopussa, mutta uudetkin laatat
olivat aiemmin huonosti kestäneestä Carraran marmorista. Alkuperäismateriaali
valittiin uudestaan muun muassa esteettisyyden perusteella.
Lasan marmori on kallein vaihtoehdoista, mutta siihen päädyttiin,
koska sen pitäisi kestää Helsingin tuulissa ja tuiskuissa Carraran
marmoria paremmin, vähintään viisikymmentä vuotta.

The weather was mild, people, young families with kids,
everybody was out having fun.
Well, we had tickets for a jazz concert: Tingwall Trio.
Cool, groovy.

He was known for his life-sized realistic sculptures of people. He cast the

Dreizehn Skulpturen durfte der Beyeler-Kurator Raphaël Bouvier aus Museen
und dem Nachlass des 1996 verstorbenen Künstlers Duane Hanson auswählen
und sie mit hundert Meisterwerken der Sammlung korrespondieren lassen.
