The month of may has traditionally been the perfect time
for our girls' wine trip.
Done the Champagne, the Loire valley, Piemont, even Porto.
Next destination on our bucket list: Südtirol.
Did not make it this year, either, but, instead,
spent a wonderful day in Rüdesheim.
Well, well, well, Rüdesheim and the famous street Drosselgasse.
In earlier days this street was famous for the party places,
And the party started in the afternoon,
German music was played and the party people
never younger then 60 years old enjoyed their life.
Today it is a bit different, at least on a Saturday afternoon
there was no party atmosphere anywhere.
Well, not so cute and not so charming, this complex of houses.
It used to be a location where they produced Asbach Uralt,
kind of poor man's brandy, very famous.
The coffee drink Rüdesheimer Kaffee, invented in 1957, contains Asbach
as its alcoholic ingredient. Up to today, Asbach Uralt is one of the
best-known German brandy trademarks. As a long drink, it is often mixed
with Cola products; especially in traditional pubs in the Berlin area,
where it is served as Futschi.

When you enter these old premises, there is a nice courtyard
where you can enjoy light lunch.
Was really impressed by the cheese platter.
And then you enter the building and you can do wine tasting.
Self service, automatic ... sounds a bit weird but it functions.
You buy tokens and then you can try whichever wine you prefer.
76 wine estates stretch along 165km of river Rhine, from Nierstein to
Königswinter, inviting you to enter and taste wine in an unusual
and fun way. Every sip is a winner!
Just like in a casino you will need coins for this.
Choose your wine from the over 80 wine makers from the wine
growing regions Rhine Palatinate, Middle Rhine and Rheingau
along the 180 Rhine kilometres!
Each wine maker is represented by two wines.

If you feel like buying just grab a bottle!
Along the corridors there is wine related art.
Of course, there are also other beverages for sale,
the the urmostly beloved gin.

Wir befinden uns in der historischen Asbachgasse, im Herzen der
ehemaligen Asbach Uralt Produktionsstätte. Aufgrund der Lage, direkt
gegenüber des Bahnhofs in Rüdesheim, können Sie bequem mit dem
öffentlichen Nahverkehr anreisen.
I would say this is a place for open minded people,
people who want to try something new.
