Kasvun aikaa

Time for nature, read: boring garden pics.

Reminder: next time when buying seeds
be sure that they are making shaky voices in the bag.

Yes, found this and wanted to try my "luck".

Opened the bag and what the f..k? All wet!

Catalonian product. Hm.
Never mind, I'll find another bag.

POOLPERSON urgently needed.
With the windy weather daily cleaning needed.
Good conditions for good people, applications to Oderazzi.

Many succulents are blossoming just now.

Roses, roses, roses.

Some roses just do not like to be in a vase.

Callas, callas, callas.

Callas in all exciting colours.

The morning sun makes even the boring petunia look gorgeous.

Wandelröschen grows like a tree.

No more shopping for seeds needed, just collect the seeds.

A poppy is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae
of the family Papaveraceae. (Wikipedia)

Finnisch für Anfänger:

UNIKKO = Mohn / poppy

Marimekko's classic poppy print Unikko was born in 1964
after Armi Ratia, company's founder, had announced that
Marimekko would never print a flower pattern.
Designer Maija Isola refused to obey Armi's orders
and created an entire series of floral prints.

Acca or akka?

Let's start with the boring garden pics.
Already last year I was fascinated by these flowers.
It is a tree in our garden in Mallorca, with grayish leaves.
Just now the tree is blossoming with these wonderful flowers.
Today I finally googled and found out the name:

Acca sellowiana

Wikipedia knows more:

... a species of flowering plant in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae,
is native to the highlands of southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay,
Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Colombia. It is widely cultivated
as an ornamental tree and for its fruit. Common names include
feijoa or pineapple guavaand guavasteen, although it is not a true guava.
It is an evergreen, perennial shrub or small tree, 1–7 metres in height.

Also in German:

Jo raa'assa hedelmässä on hyvin voimakas tuoksu,
joka on pitkäkestoinen.

Okay boys and girls, let's try the acca jam later this year!

And please be careful with spelling:

Finnisch für Anfänger:

AKKA = Weib / wife (bitch)

Oh, it is a palindrome, like these ones:

Today's nature pic.

Gesamtkunstwerk Sa Bassa Blanca

Excursion day with loads of boring garden pics.
But also art.

Sa Bassa Blanca Museum (msbb)

contributes to the appreciation of creativity by providing

each person who lives in, or visits Majorca

a holistic experience about Art, Nature and Architecture.

The Foundation was established in 1993 by the couple formed by artists and collectors,
Ben Jakober and Yannick Vu and philanthropist Georges Coulon Karlweis.
In that year a former underground cistern of the Sa Bassa Blanca property
was transformed to accommodate a unique collection of children's portraits
from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

This is so ... Sa Bassa.

Makes you feel good.

May is definitely the best month to visit the rose garden.

Sokrates - actually a collection of modern art.
I won't reveal more.

The sculpture park.

The art is special.

In the garden you also can admire real beauties.
Like this upupa pops.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

HARJALINTU = Wiedehopf / Eurasian hoopoe

In the sculpture park you also have this catalogue of the local birds.

In the white house you are allowed to make pics,
in the gallery with the children portraits not.

The house is just amazing.

The enigmatic bright white building with the pointed pinnacles
reminds me of a Thousand And One Nights story.
It houses a fine exhibition of contemporary art (...)

Designed by Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy.

With magnificent views.

And the quizz of the day is:
how do you call this ring around the sun?

Wikipedia knows:

Halo (from Greek ἅλως, halōs)
is the name for a family of optical phenomena produced by
light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.

And the second question of the day is:
How are these pretty little devils called?
They love to eat leaves of roses.

Shots in May in Malle

Time for Mallorca.
May, the spring month, not yet summer, can be challenging.

The the view over the island is always awesome.

Things growing in our garden.

Strong colours.

Big birds.

Rose mix. Of course, from our garden.

Oh, those colours.

Ode heitti talviturkin!
My first swim this year.

Aidan toisella puolen ruoho on vihreämpää.
Tai muratti makoisampaa.

Our sweet neighbours.

In Capdepera middle age happening over the weekend.

Not only Germans love sausages!
Check this BBQ heaven.

Sky over Mallorca.

Thanks girls, the jam became really nice.

Little fish in Cala Gat.

Cala Gat.

Friday's biking tour starts at the "station" of Artá.

People, did you draw these circles when you were kids?
I did.

View in Valdemossa.

But honestly, if the main attraction in a park
does not function, can you get your money back ...?

No money back, there are other objects to be seen!

And the atmosphere is charming.

This Saturday the Royal Wedding charmed us all.
Watching the streaming with cucumber sandwiches Finnish way.

In El Molnar you have cosy corners.

Every Sunday you can find treasures in the huge Consell flea market.

Or check the birds in Santa Maria del Cami at the Sunday market.

The month of May can be tricky weatherwise.

There is always enough stuff to be cleaned in the garden.

After gardening a G & T tastes really good.

Another boring garden pic.

Birdies. Daily visitors.

Kust a random green pic.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

UNIKKO = Mohn / poppy

My favourite pic this week.

Zucchiniblüte after the rain.
