Hauskaa VAPPUA!

Today big carnival in Finland!!!
Lucky me am in Frankfurt ...

Wikipedia knows:
In Finland, 1 May is an official and national holiday.
Apart from Workers' Day (officially: suomalaisen työn päivä,
"day of Finnish labour"), it is also celebrated as a feast of students,
 and spring, called vappu.

Mantan lakitus.
The national broadcasting company YLE is sending
live action from Helsinki!
Students traditionally place a student cap
on the head of the statue "Havis Amanda"
in Helsinki city center.
And the party goes on and on and on ...!

Havis Amanda is a nude female statue in Helsinki, Finland.
It was sculpted by Ville Vallgren (1855-1940) in 1906 in Paris,
but was not erected at its present location at the Market Square
in Kaartinkaupunki until 1908. Every year on Vappu,
Manta serves as a centrepiece for the celebrations.
Students of the local universities put a cap on the statue
in an elaborate ceremony. (Wikipedia)

Minä täällä juon nakkeja
ja grillaan simaa,
niinkuin pääsiäiseen kuuluu.
Olen puhaltanut paljon selvin päin
ja aion olla ilmapallo.
Hyvää tuttua vapuille!

Friends are the best

We do have this very good friend who is the most creative person
in the t-shirt design.

My hubby and I got as present t-shirts with the text above.
The thing is, there is a saying in German:
Du alter Sack.
Meaning ... you old sack/bag.
Actually I do not really know why the Germans use it.
It's not so bad, not offending, kind of cute whatever.
But when you translate that saying in other languages,
like here in Finnish and Turkish,
it does not ring any bell.

We love you too, Jörg-Stefan.

Yes, we did invite our closest Frankfurt friends for a boat tour.
Sight seeing on the river Main.
How exciting is that then ...?!

Well, it turned out to be a GREAT boat tour!
And why?
Because our friends are truly cool and great and awesome.
Party animals. Dancers!
Thanks friends!

Of course, Ode's Bastelstudio was pretty busy the days before.

Tables with themes.

Also in Petterweil people were busy:
Brittney Spears alia Maria baked some cool bisquits.

Isi did the decoration - thanks so much!

For all our party people: check the 6060 dropbox site,
we sent you a personal eMail.

Betonieren, betonieren, ich gehe auf ein Schiff!

Maestro Roberto did a good job.

Our DJ Ralf of radio x.
Excellent job, well done, thanks so much Ralf!
Multitalent Ralf can also take pics:

And the disco sound equipment we got from
sound for friends
"Ihr freundlicher Eventdienstleister im wahren Herzen von Frankfurt"
I tell you, this company is in Heddernheim ... kind of heart of Frankfurt?
Nice guys, good stuff, contact them if you need loudspeakers etc.

My dearest and only nephew took
the kind of official pics of the party people.
Do check his internet site as well:

And his cool girlfriend also studies photography:

And people, the young students are permanently looking
for a photo studio or a famous photographer to offer them
Languages spoken: Finnisch, Swedish, English - fluent.
Let me know if anybody is interested!

Of course, we had the great honor of listening to
Kiitos Tuija, and welcome to Frankfurt again in October!
Check out Tuija's gig list here:

Oooops ... we did it again ...!
Britney Spears in double pack!
How can my hubby handle this???
Just enjoy the American glamour.

Yes, we liked this smallest boat of Primus Line,
everything worked out nicely.
Even the weather was friendly with us, such a mellow night.

Lazy blogger

Hi Fans!
Lazy blogger is back again,
at least for one posting.

This is a detail of a drawing presenting three Afganistan letters.
They all also have something to do with an eye,
open, closed and a tear, too.

If you feel like doing something with the refugees,
click here for a cultural possibility:

And looks at this!
radio x has also updated their internet site.
More transparence.
And very soon you'll have the possibility to listen to
SISU-radio programs one week online.
Work on progress.

Mr. Röntgen

My friend told my to buy a röntgen apparatus for the house
so that I do not have to drive every week to the hospitals ...

As already posted I took my friend to Manacor to the hospital
as there was no possibility to get a röntgen pic of her ankle.
Yesterday spent a couple of hours in Son Servera vet clinic
as the tiny Tinto has major problems with his back part.
Cannot walk properly.

The vet says nothing is broken so let's hope for the best.
Young cats can recover pretty fast.

Mr Tinto Röntgen.

Wikipedia knows:
Radiography's origins and fluoroscopy's origins can both be traced
to November 8, 1895, when German physics professor
Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen
discovered the X-ray and noted that, while it could pass through human tissue,
it could not pass through bone or metal. Röntgen referred to the radiation
as "X", to indicate that it was an unknown type of radiation. He received
the first Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery.

Finnisch für Anfänger:
röntgen= Röntgen / radiography / radiografía

But have nice things to report as well, there was a great concert
in the caves of Porto Christo on Saturday evening.

You have to, or rather you may walk through the caves
in order to reach the concert area.

Very interesting.

It took almost 25 minutes to reach the concert area.

And there they were, the gay guys singing,
accompanied by drums, guitar and piano.
All kinds of songs, many of them in Malloquin,
like Big Spender - so funny!

Der Mallorca Gay Men's Chorus,

(Mallorca Magazin)

Unfortunately I did not carry my big camera with me.

But the iPhone pics came out nicely.

The Cuevas del Drach were already known during the Middle Ages
and were explored in 1880 by M. F. Will and in 1896 by E.A. Martel,
who discovered the cave containing the lake that bears his name.
Between 1922 and 1935 the cave was conditioned to be visited
by opening a new entrance, building paths, stairs, etc.
and, above all, by installing electric lighting.

Read more:

Go and visit these caves as well, then we can discuss
which one is better, Artá or Porto Christo.

Early Latin.

Alea iacta est.

Alea iacta est ("The die is cast")
is a Latin phrase attributed by Suetonius to Julius Caesar
on January 10, 49 B.C. as he led his army across the Rubicon river
in Northern ItalyWith this step, he entered Italy at the head of his
army in defiance of the Senate and began his long civil war against
Pompey and the Optimates. The phrase, either in the original Latin
or in translation, is used in many languages
to indicate that events have passed a point of no return.

A heavy rainstorm woke me up early this morning
so I started checking what's new in Facebook.
My friend Laura in Helsinki is the most updated person
and this morning she forced me to check that latin saying.

"Ei pitäis madaltaa kansalaisvahtikoiravalmiuttaan,
menee aamiaismustikat väärään kurkkuun.
Pisteet on annettu, alea jacta est."

Not only she but others are commenting an article
in the biggest daily newspaper in Finland
where it roughly says that the new health care system
will give points to people according to their use of health care.

Uusi tieto sote-uudistuksesta:

Jokainen suomalainen pisteytetään sen mukaan,
miten paljon hän rasittaa terveydenhuoltoa
HS 10.4.2018

Kapitaatiomaksun määrittämisen onnistuminen on koko sote-uudistuksen
onnistumisen kannalta keskeistä. Seppälän mukaan sen ei kuitenkaan tarvitse
onnistua täydellisesti kerralla vaan maksun määräytymisen kiteerejä
on tarkoitus säätää kerran vuodessa.

Onnea vaan sinne Suomeen SOTE-uudistuskisaan!

SOTE is the Finnisch word for social and health care,
very close to SOME, social media.
The health security system actually could be linked with Facebook,
computers could calculate the need of your health care system
on behalf of your postings.
Maybe this link exists already?

Kuvien kermaa

Here is one of the best pics from Artá.

Taken by my cousin Pasi exactly a week ago.
All of you who have been in Artá on a Tuesday
must know this lady who is selling chicken in the market hall.

Hopefully once someone will make a movie with her,
she acts like a star behind her counter,
in front of the hot chicks.

Kiitos Pasi.

Dangerous stones

Mallorca on a sunny afternoon in April.

Cala Aguilla. Yes, tourists swimming.

The sun comes out every now and then.
And then it is hot. How nice.

Art along the promenade.

How on earth do they get those love locks everywhere?

Here is a simple stone along the beach promenade in Cala Ratjada.
Some people climb on it for the photos.
More careful persons just stand next to it.
And because it is such a nice spot, my friend got excited and
did a little jump ... and fell. Well, shit happens.
Not a nice end for a nice trip.

And the in the same evening Tinto returned!
Poor thing, has probably been bitten by a dog,
two big holes on the sides.
Otherwise thin as always, and telling with his very loud voice
that is he very, very hungry.

People working in the Manacor hospital were very, very friendly.
Took good care of my fallen friend and she could fly back home this afternoon.

And finally I got to know the hospital building also from inside.
It is huge, you can see it from far away when driving around Manacor.

Cala Gat in April still empty, let's see for how long.

Deutscher Kastanienbaum in Dar Ahlam.

Green biking

Mallorca, what else?

ODE connecting people.
This time tyttönorssin tyttöjä, ihmisiä ne on nekin.
Siinä luettiin kronikkaa ihan ajatuksella.

Finally got to test the biking route between Artá and Son Servera.

The Manacor-Artà Greenway follows the path of the railway
that used to serve the easternmost part of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.
The result is a new, easy and safe trail that runs through the interior of the island,
where traditional crop fields alternate with Mediterranean forest on the hills
that the old railway line used to skirt around in its quest for a flatter route to follow.

Mountain bike is not everybody's darling.

But Ritva was lucky, got the very last city bike.
Finally we got on tour, my cousin Pasi, his wife Tuula and
the birthday girl Ritva from Frankfurt.

Easy riders.

Thanks so much dear cousin,
without you my tour had turned to a walking tour.

These ladies did a good job, both not really in biking condition.

The route is getting there, new trees and plants along the way.

And some elderly plants as well.

The locomotive hall which never made it.

Artá's cemetery along the road.
