In-between in Istanbul

Long weekend in Istanbul.

Harbor city.

Cruise ship destination.

Satellite city.

Don't miss the sweets.

Also try the sour things in life.
Turks call them erik.

Elections coming up.

The sea gulls loved the hotel pool, too.

Front view.

Check the boats in the glasses.
Thanks Ebelius and Pitkänen for your cool company.

The best fish restaurant in Istanbul.

Touristy views on Bosphorus.

Oh those romantic houses.

Oops, what is coming here?

Boat orchestra heading towards Istanbul.

This was our boat
as we needed an extra transportation across the Bosphorus.

Great seafood in:

Cool restaurant.

And this is what you eat there.

Ladies' room is pretty cool.

Amazing floor.
Look carefully and you'll find one hair in the pic.

Along the Bosphorus.

Almost at Ortaköy.

Arriving in the old town Istanbul.

Mosque view.

Bazar view.

Fishermen on the Galata bridge.

Hagia Sofia being renovated.

Lovely Turkish tiles in the Harem.

Further decoration in the Harem.

Partly under construction.

Now you know how all the fish are called in all important languages.

Yes, there was a match.

Seagulls matching the color of the pool.
Quite amazing how strong the reflexion can be.

Pretty cool terrace restaurant Banyan in Ortaköy.

Souvenirs for visitors from all over the world.

Let's enjoy summer!

Touring Piemont

This year we did our traditional wine tour in Piemont.

Piedmont (Italian: Piemonte, Piedmontese and Occitan: Piemont; French: Piémont)
is one of the 20 regions of Italy. It has an area of 25,402 square kilometres
and a population of about 4.6 million. The capital of Piedmont is Turin.

The name Piedmont comes from medieval Latin Pedemontium or Pedemontis,
i.e., ad pedem montium, meaning “at the foot of the mountains”. (Wikipedia)

Most of the street and other signs are ceramic art.

Tiny village of Castiglione Tinella,
our hotel is here in the middle of the pic.

Yes, I truly can recommend this hotel.
The location is excellent in between Asti and Alba.

This is the reception area.

Here a view to the surrounding hills.

The hotel also provides a pool,
situated on the other side of the small village.

Wine collection of a local restaurant Verderame.
Dinner was so nice that we went there twice.

How surprising to find an orthodox church in Piemont,
in the old town of Neive.

Those Piemont cherries had some heavy wind.

Wine tasting stop in Barbaresco, view over the mountains.

Yes, the wine in the lilac labeled bottle was our favorite.

A truffle is the fruiting body of a subterranean Ascomycete fungus,
predominantly one of the many species of the genus Tuber.
Some of the truffle species are highly prized as food.

Oh Wikipedia, really, as food?

Alba is a small, compact town worth visiting.

Just a wall decoration.

Asti had huge market on Saturday.

You have to visit markets in Italy.

Random balconies in Canelli.

This is so Italian.

This so Italian plant now keeps flies away in Frankfurt.

Stau? Traffic jam on a highway, three lines standing.
Not funny. Experienced in Italy just before the Swiss border.

Time to take pics.

Time to enjoy the mountain views.

In the middle of the tunnel.
And I tell you, there are MANY tunnels between Germany and Italy.

Oderazzi's fashion hint:

decorate your shoes with flowers,
but only on one side.
