We did this cruise from Kiel (Germany) to Oslo (Norway).
Kiel, on a rainy day even more unattractive.
Let's head to the North.
The interior of this vessel was quite … impressive.
It is easy to forget that you are on a boat.
ON BOARD:
12 restaurants and bars
3-5 star cabins
Fitness room and SPA
Casino
Aqualand
Free musical shows
Kitsch? Yes, a bit.
Approaching Oslo.
Stones and birds.
The rain stopped for a while.
Big boat indeed.
Electric cars had all similar number plates with EL.
Names to remember in Oslo.
Henrik Johan Ibsen was a major 19th-century
Norwegian playwright, theatre director, and poet.
He is often referred to as "the father of realism"
and is one of the founders of Modernism in theatre. (Wikip)
Here the other one: Alfred Nobel
The Nobel Prize is a set of annual international awards
bestowed in a number of categories by Swedish and Norwegian committees
in recognition of cultural and/or scientific advances.
The Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway,
while the other prizes are awarded in Stockholm, Sweden. (Wikip)
The view from the Royal Palace over the city.
The view towards the Royal Palace from the city.
The Royal Palace is situated on a rise, the Bellevue,
at one end of Oslo’s main thoroughfare, Karl Johans gate.
The Royal Palace is one of the country’s most important buildings,
and a concrete symbol of the course of Norwegian history since 1814.
Absolutely worth visiting: the Opera House.
Amazing architecture.
Must be a stunning location in summer.
In the rain we just did a quick walk around.
Cool location for dinner parties.
Similar setting like in Lahti,
where you also sit at the waterside in the Sibelius Concert House.
See my posting of 19.9.2013.
The old town we had to run through ...
… our boat was waiting. Had only three hours time in Oslo.
Bye-bye Oslo!
We'll give you a couple of years to get ready,
the new harbor area is still been built.
And most probably it's nice to visit in the summer time.
Surprisingly many summer houses
are built very close to each other.
Quite nice houses but again, very close to each other.
These quick cruises take place every day, two boats
carrying party people both directions.
Party people?
This concept I know already from the boats
cruising between Finland and Sweden:
get on board drunk, drink more cheap beer, dance,
have an inexpensive beer for breakfast and
finally buy a 24 can box duty free beer with you.
On arrival the cleaning crews are let in first,
only after all the vacuum cleaners have boarded
the passengers can get out.
Why did we go?
My hubby had some work on board,
kind of investment seminar.
Admitted, not only boozing people on board!
