So Espoo

Last night's frost still to be seen at noon.

This is so Espoo.
Not just building new homes but also new roads,
also for bikers and pedestrians.
 Landscapes including even little ponds.
Germans would call this a lake!

Espoo is the Western neighbor of Helsinki,
side to side like Offenbach and Frankfurt.

(Wikipedia)

Imagine the dark winter days, soon to start.
PS. Not bad for iPhone fotos.

Angry Birds and Mauno

Angry Birds everywhere,
now as fragrance ... sold in Finnish airplanes.

Lumene is THE Finnish make-up, well beauty product company.
Skin care, hair care, make-up,
all what the sensitive Nordic skin needs.
And now this: Angry Bird lip balms, hand creams.
Raspberry and all those close to nature names.

These birds are far from angry, rather happy birdies!
Jo + Ja visiting Mainhattan, almost got lost among the marathon men.

Also noticed in the Finnish press today:
the new tunnel in Turkey,

"The idea of a railway tunnel under the Istanbul Strait was first raised in 1860.
However, where the tunnel under the Istanbul Strait crosses
the deepest parts of the Strait, the old-fashioned techniques
would not allow the tunnel to be on or under the seabed,
and therefore the design indicated a "floating" type of tunnel
placed on pillars constructed on the seabed."

My mum's new room mate.
Good luck!
... and check Google pics for further Maunos.

First signs of Xmas.

Advent, Advent ein Lichtlein brennt.

in Wikipedia you find the following explanation:
The origins of the Advent calendar come from German Lutherans who,
at least as early as the beginning of the 19th century,
would count down the first 24 days of December physically.
Often this meant simply drawing a chalk line
on the door each day, beginning on December 1.
Some families had more elaborate means of marking the days,
such as lighting a new candle (perhaps the genesis of today's Advent wreath)
or hanging a little religious picture on the wall each day.

Four more weeks to go and "Adventzeit" begins.
This special "Adventtikalenteri" in my pic above comes from
the Finnish Scout Society.

Adventtikalenterien myyntituotto menee kokonaisuudessaan partiotoimintaan,

Frankfurt views

Check this: there is huge difference depending on
which Brennweite/Öffnung/Zeit ...blahblahbla you use.
Well, I attended this photography course,
but the only this I gained is frustration.

Of course, managed to take some interesting pics.

But the thing is, I should have known the manual functions
of my (our) camera better. Too bad.

Kept on taking pics.

This is not good either, but has some atmosphere.
Courtyard of the Volkshochschule.

Ahaa, interesting.

Hm. Zooming.

Another zooming experience.

Frankfurt sky scrapers.

Corner view.

Just high.

And of course, building sites all over the city.

Japan Tower.

Autumn leaves.

And the fountain at the opera.

Just water.

And this?

Yes, water at the fountain.

Brazilian street art can still be seen after the book fair.

What's up there?

Another corner decorated by Brazilian street artists.

This is at Merian Platz. Brazilian? Hm. I doubt it.
Look at the grandma up the wall!

Taken by iPhone.

Another iPhone shot on Wednesday.

Krunikka Girls in Mainhattan

Must admit, it was kind of rainy.
And a lot of action.
Like when you have 6 and 3 years old gööörlies in house.

But it was easy to take a S-Bahn.

Hallo alle Latinisten, this is how the kids learn Latin in Bad Vilbel,
seen behind the playing ground behind the Roman mosaics.

„Wo es gut (schön) ist, ist Vaterland (Heimat).“

"Home is where it's good"

Hat seinen Ursprung im Werk „Der Reichtum“ des griechischen Dichters Aristophanes
und geht auf die griechische Form
Τῷ γάρ καλώς πράσσοντι πάσα γή πατρίς.

In Bad Vilbel: nachgemachte Römische Mosaiken.

Real cows.

And cow babies.

And shopping.

And chicken.

And a happy mama, who has her birthday today!
Happy bööööööday Lode.

A must: checking the old studio of Radio X.
Lode and Joshu did the SISU programs  10 years ago.

Frankfurt am MAIN!

Wellness holidays in Ostend.

Kindermuseum in Frankfurt.

Collectors items in Kinder Museum.
