Midsummer details

Pics from Krebsmühle Midsummer party 22.6.13.
More in "Kuvia/Galerie"

SISU still has the old posters of the Finnish tourist office.
They are prettier than the new cool ones. Sorry to say.

The blue, the red, the black.
Finnish beer.

Love the poppy-bucket where the "muurikka" crêpe dough was made in.

Birch trees belong to Finnish midsummer.
We had them printed and real.

Also Tarzan we had printed and real!

Kalle attended the party.

Pentti is the creator of wooden art and fashion!

Here one of Pentti's fellows.

Al kinds of animals attended Finnish midsummer, indeed!

 Another classic game: KÖYDENVETO.

Did you know:

"At the 1900 Summer Olympics, a tug of war tournament was contested."

"Vuoden 1900 kesäolympialaisten köydenveto järjestettiin 16. heinäkuuta 1900 Pariisissa.
Tämä oli ensimmäinen kerta kun köydenveto oli mukana olympialaisten ohjelmassa.
Laji oli ainoastaan miehille. Joukkueita oli kaksi; Ranskan joukkue ja sekajoukkue,
jossa oli mukana tanskalaisia ja ruotsalaisia urheilijoita."

Finnisch für Anfänger:

KÖYSI = Seil / rope
VETÄÄ = ziehen / pull

Midsummer fire ... well, in Finland we burn huge fires at lakes...

Thnx people for coming!
Somebody counted almost 200 party people.

Frankfurter Ostend Garten

Frankfurt's Eastend is trying its best.
Now there is this gardening project:

I had to check this place today
as was not able to join the big party yesterday.

Milchtüten bepflanzen. Cool.

Happy bees.

Office building.

You kind of have to in to get an idea.
Free entrance.

From the platform you have a good view over the garden.

Ostbahnhofplatz REALLY need some redecoration.
I would say pretty urgently.
Probably thea'll start when the ECB-bankers have moved in,
so let's hope the best for the end of next year.

Okay, Kunsthalle in Munich,
the title is okay, but:
FINLAND is missing from the list of countries!
Finland definiteky is one of the NORDIC countries.

The Nordic countries make up a region
in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic which consists of
Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden
and their associated territories, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Svalbardand Åland.

In English, "Scandinavia" is sometimes used as a synonym for the Nordic countries
(often excluding Greenland), but that term more properly refers
only to Denmark, Norway and Sweden. (Wikipedia)

If these ever start growing in my garden,
they'l be called Maria.

Ebelis with lavendels, how nice.

PS. Getting further JUHANNUS-pics this afternoon.

Juhannusjuhlat Krebsmühlessä

Preparations for the midsummer party in Krebsmühle.
Dancefloor almost done.
After this pic my camera told me:
bitte Akku wechseln.
Uups, I only have one, had forgotten to load it.
So no further pics by my Canon.
Now waiting for the fotos of others.

This I took by my mobile:
Pentti Lepistö's charming wooden creatures.
The muumins extra made for our party.

TARZAN-foto exhibition.

Weltpremiere: Gummistiefel in Torwand werfen!

Whilst waiting for further fotos
you can see what is blooming in Ode's garden:

Ruiskukka/ruiskaunokki, seeds I bought in Finland.

Did you know:

The blue cornflower has been the national flower of Estonia
since 1968 and symbolizes daily bread to Estonians.
It is also the symbol of the Estonian political party, People's Union,
the Finnish political party, National Coalition Party,
and the Swedish political party, Liberal People's Party,
and has since the dawn of the 20th century been a symbol for social liberalism there.
It is the official flower of the Swedish province of Östergötland
and the school flower of Winchester College.

The blue cornflower is also one of the national flowers of Germany.
This is partly due to the story that when Queen Louise of Prussia was fleeing Berlin
and pursued by Napoleon's forces, she hid her children in a field of cornflowers
and kept them quiet by weaving wreaths for them from the flowers.
The flower thus became identified with Prussia,
not least because it was the same color as the Prussian military uniform.
After the unification of Germany in 1871,
it went on to became a symbol of the country as a whole.
For this reason, in Austria the blue cornflower is a political symbol for
pan-German and rightist ideas. Members of the Freedom Party
wore it at the opening of the Austrian parliament in 2005. (Wikipedia)

Yellow Bodendecker planted by the Hausverwaltung.

Endless-summer Hortensie.

Even some cactus flowers!

Pink wonder called "Kirsi",
I tend to name some plants after their original owners.

Hmmm, when did I buy this one?

Another stolen treasure, "Ebeli" from Wörthsee.

KILTA - Party

Finnisch-Deutsche Handelsgilde Frankfurt

Dinner at restaurant MainNizza.

The food was good.

My monthly meeting partners:
Vorstand der Handelsgilde in Frankfurt 2012-2013.

Click details:

with Vladislav Cojocaru.

Tuija always has good ideas how to get the party going!

Refrain from the folk song "Ievan polkka".

"Ievan Polkka" or "Ievan Polokka" (Savo Finnish for "Eva's Polka")
is a popular Finnish song with lyrics written in the early 1930s
by Eino Kettunen to a traditional Finnish polka tune.
The melody can be traced back to the Viipuri Province in the 18th century
when the border with the Kingdom of Sweden ran west of the province.
The number of Russian soldiers stationed in the border area
outnumbered the locals for many decades.

If you didn't get your signed copy at the party
come and buy Tuija's "something" CD
at the Midsummer Party on the 22nd of June
at the Krebsmühle premises in Oberursel.
Party starts at 18 hours.

June is the time when the roses just explode!

They need daily care, otherwise their stems breaks under the heavy flowers.

Filled version.

Simple version.

Small version.

A few more hot days and also the "lavandula angustifolia" will explode!

Allium looks gorgeous also after the blooming time.

Bugs, bugs and more bugs.
You cannot spray fast enough!

Jungle fever!
Preparing again the Tarzan pics for an exhibition.
Come and see not only the pics but Tarzan alive:
22.6. Krebsmühle, Oberursel:
