Summer in the City

Frankfurt - Westend - Palmengarten
Vitold Rek & East West Wind
Thursday Jazz

Featuring Michal Cohen
Eine tolle Sängerin aus Israel

Hello .... this was kind of world music
we really DID miss the jazz ...

On our way home we could watch movie making!

Next to the Moloko bar (Schöne Aussicht etc) there were film crews,
like standing, hanging around, like waiting ...
and then taking one shot ...
what a boring job, such a surprise - WHERE WAS THE GLAMOUR???
We rode home on our bikes.

Welcome back home, u Aussie!
Enjoy your coming year, whatever you'll do with it.

Helsinki "must" in Hakaniemi:
Vihreä Vyyhti hallissa.
Siellä on vielä kesätarjouksiakin!

Helsinki "must" in Krunikka:

Yeah, booooooooks.

Books seen through magic lense.
ON sielläkin tarjouksia,
ja taiteiden yössä elokuussa ruokaisaa ohjelmaa.

View from the beginning of the western bound highway.
In Helsinki it's starting to get dark earlier, like after 9 pm.

Helsinki this afternoon. SUNNY.
But it never gets too hot and sticky, thanks to the wind from the sea.

Lange Tafel und Lich

Summer in the city!
Time for a party ...

Licher Bier, jawohl. Auch eine hübsche Altstadt mit Fachwerkhäusern,
Schloss und Turm.
Check more in wikipedia and

We stayed overnight in Kloster Arnsburg
read: Holidays in Hessen!

Yes, Ghost was in the hotel, too, next to our bed. Where else?

Pretty amazing place.
"Auf Bronzetafeln am Fußende jedes Grabes sind die persönlichen Daten, soweit bekannt, notiert. Die mit Thymian bepflanzten Gräber werden von Graswegen gesäumt. Einige Kreuze (nicht für jedes Grab) aus Basaltlavatuff sind über das Feld verstreut."

New pics from Pihlis = Pihlajasaari.

J.Lo Triathlon is getting closer.

Our flat is getting smaller.
You've seen all those guys who drag their bikes to their living rooms...
... at least we have space in the entrance ... for SEVERAL bikes.
Mine is in the cellar, just for info.

Pihlajasaari today

Pihlajasaari, Helsinki, Finland

Pihlajasaari (Rönnskär in Swedish) is an island in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

Pihlajasaari actually consists of two separate islands connected with a bridge. The islands can only be reached by boat, and in summer there is a privately-operated commuter boat travelling between Kaivopuisto and Pihlajasaari every couple of hours.

Pihlajasaari is an outdoor island with no permanent residence. It is mostly intended as a holiday resort. One of the two islands offers large beaches for swimming and sunbathing, and its own restaurant.

On the other island there is a camping area, and also a unisex nudist beach, one of only two in the entire country (the other is in Pori). Unlike the main beaches in Pihlajasaari, the nudist beach consists almost entirely of bare cliffs with very little sand, and is not suitable for swimming.

A lot of chairs available in many cafes.

Cooking preparations under surveillance.

Did you know they call the Raspel "Anoppi" in Finland?

Finnisch für Anfänger:
Anoppi = Schwiegermutter / mother in law
Raastinrauta = Raspel / grater

Jungle fever ... in Frankufrt: ZOO!

Many of those pretty animals had lunch ...

... and when the sun came out,
in Bornheim was the lunch location for us.

GRIE SOSS mit Ochsenbrust & Salzkartoffeln

There are two traditional types of Hessian Green Sauce which are popular in the Frankfurt am Main and Kassel area. The Frankfurt-style is made from hard-boiled eggs, oil (but not olive oil), vinegar, salt, and generous amount of seven fresh herbs, namely borage, sorrel, cress, chervil, chives, parsley, and salad burnet. Variants, often due to seasonal availability include dill, lovage, lemon balm and even spinach orbasil. In more frugal times, daisy leaves, broad plantain leaves, and dandelion leaves were also used. Since the sauce is mainly an emulsion of fat and egg yolk, it may be classified as a kind of mayonnaise (although common mayonnaise uses raw yolks). Today, buttermilk, sour cream ("Saure Sahne" with 10 per cent fat, or "Schmand" with 24 per cent fat), quark, or yogurt is often added in order to reduce the oil content of the sauce. The green sauce typical of the city of Kassel is made with a sour cream base.

The sauce is served with peeled boiled potatoes, accompanying either hard-boiled eggs or roasted beef brisket. Hard apple cider is a typical accompanying drink. This was supposedly Goethe's favourite meal; a legend that his mother invented it is likely apocryphal. (Wikipedia)

Frankfurter Würstchen

Grillgut und sonst gut

Kaikki löytyi mitä tarvittiin
käteisrahalla maksettiin
siittä Frankun Westiin kuskattiin.

Laina-auto ainakin osui oikean väriseksi!
Sinne olis mahtunu enemmänkin kaappeja.

BBQ can be artistic

Just smell it, don't eat it!

Frankfurt Osthafen

Kiitos illallisesta S&T!
