Bon cap de setmana a tots.

°
Actually we, oderazzi and hubby, are struggling with
our Spanish studies. Lazy lizards.
We lived seven years in Luxembourg 30 years ago and did learn a few
words of the local language, so why not trying another "world language".
As on the island of Mallorca everybody speaks German it
might be useful and polite to learn the local language Mallorquí.

Found also an informative page: Sprachenlernen24.de

Here a short list for all our visitors,
try to learn this before you come and visit us again:

Just joking.
😁
👻

For my English speaking fans:

Well, at least our island friends are forcing us to read some Mallorquí
in our WhatsApp group.

Kleine Blumenkunde

°

My friend in Odenwald has these wonderful high risers in her garden.

Internet gives me all information:

Cephalaria
is a genus of about 65 species of flowering plants in the family Caprifoliaceae.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

KIRAHVINKUKAT = Schuppenköpfe / Cephalaria
KIRAHVI = Giraffe / giraffe
KUKAT = Blumen / flowers
KUKKA = Blume / flower

Save the planet with flowers!

Odenwald apples.

Odenwald strawberries.

Fragaria vesca / metsämansikka / ahomansikka /Walderdbeere

Odenwald lupins.

In Finland these plants, garden lupins, are forbidden since last year.
Too invasive! The plant threatens indigenous species.

Kleine Schlangenkunde

°
This is quite a big snake, I would say.
I tell you, there is another one, as well, but it was
too fast for my foto session. Disappeared under the stones.

Look at the mighty body!

And the tiny tail!

Trepadora? yes, it can climb.
Like along trees, walls ... hello!
And it can become one meter 85 cm long. Hello again!

hemorrhois hippocrepis
horseshoe whip snake

Remember the one one the left side?
We found it on the 1st of January in 2016.
So ... we are used to these climbers!

In internet you find a lot of information of snakes.
Never thought of this:
While not commonly thought of as food in most cultures, in others
the consumption of snakes is acceptable, or even considered a delicacy.
Snake soup of Cantonese cuisine is consumed by locals in autumn, to
warm up their body. Western cultures document the consumption of
snakes under extreme circumstances of hunger. (Wiki)

Snakes really enjoy the sun. I wonder what they did yesterday.
There was such a heavy rainstorm over Mallorca.

It rained heavily, we had little lakes everywhere.
And at six in the evening the sun came out again.

Lucky us, in Manacor they had not only heavy rains but hails, too.

The second rainy day

°
Guess what ... no boring garden pics this time.

But this has to come:
the biggest "avocado" tree I've ever seen.
It's in Cala Mesquida, a tiny tourist village close to our
holiday home in Mallorca.
Now the hotels are still closed due to corona.

But hey, have a look at the flower/inflorecence? Avocado ... not really!

Plant recognizing app tells me that this tree is an elephant tree,
phytolacca dioica, commonly known as ombú.

The sap is poisonous, this could be a good tree for my garden,
especially after the last weeks' fight against all kinds of pests.

Da der Saft der Pflanze giftig ist, wird sie von Pflanzenfressern
gemieden. Darüber hinaus ist die Zweihäusige Kermesbeere gegen
Heuschrecken und andere Plagen immun.

In German this tree is called: Zweihäusige Kermesbeere. Wow.

The beach. Look at that empty beach, so pretty!
Only the life savers on duty, Pamela Anderson and co.

The weather is not cold, it is only cloudy.
And later, yes, it started to rain.

Cala Mesquida is quite a children friendly holiday spot.

Next stop in Son Moll, close to our shopping
paradise street (Lidl, Mercadona, Müller).
They are working on the promenade.
Hopefully done by beginning of July when the Germans arrive.

Even this coy bar is closed. Träumeria.

Sea view in June 2020!!!

Monday beach in June 2020.

Relax, the Majorcan summer is just starting,
like I wrote in my previous posting.
Today is May 39, you have to keep your
raincoat ready until the May 40th!

Not only sunshine

°

El 40 de mayo, que correspondería al 9 de junio, popularmente se usa
en el refranero español para designar una fecha avanzada de la
primavera en la que hace buen tiempo, y normalmente se aplica al refrán:
(Wikipedia, only in Spanish)

Hasta el 40 de Mayo no te quitas el sayo!

Bis zum 40. Mai (9.Juni) vergeße Deinen Regenmantel nicht!
Do not forget your raincoat until May 40th!
Älä unohda sadetakkia 40. toukokuuta asti!

The sky does not have to be blue all the time.
Drama can be seen everywhere.

Waiting for the storm.
Which came and took like ... 20 minutes.

The artichoke flower brings me more pleasure than the
edible flowerbuds, there's hardly anything to eat.

Onion!

Maybe today again a cool sunset like yesterday?
Let's see. Missed the full moon. Hm.

Too busy doodling in the evenings.
Can be called Zentangle as well.

And the winner is ...

°

Kuudes kuudetta.
6.6.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

KUUSI = Fichte / spruce

YKSI KAKSI KOLME NELJÄ VIISI KUUSI

I thought I was the winner this year, this apricot tree is
carrying soooo many fruits!

Green leaves and yellow fruit, what a joy!

Look the fruit, so pretty. Indeed. Not yet really ripe.

Turn it around ... oh, so many wholes ...

Open it (it's easy, just with your fingers) and find out:

Half of the fruit is brown inside AND: look at those worms!!!

Finnisch für Anfänger:

MATO = Wurm / worm
TOUKKA =  Larve / larva

Just name it but you can find many of those whitish animals
in each of those beautiful fruit. I tell you.
I a not the winner with this apricot tree.

Wanna see some more gardening problems?

Leaves of our lemon tree. Every year the same stuff.
Yes, I did buy poison again.

This week I also bought some other poison for the wine,
which is supposed to cover the pergola at the breakfast terrace.
The same problem as every year. For got to take care of the plant
in the spring time, should have used the poison then.
But maybe the cutting and poisoning still helps a bit.

Let's face it.
All those bugs and beetles and fungus and larves are also
part of nature, mother nature's creatures.
Mother, I respect your creatures but ... what kind
of game is this? You have all these great plants
and then there are these not so great creatures
killing all the plants. What is the plan???

Guess what? I can kill too.
Put some last year's dried dates into water, wanted to
see what's happening. And things happened:
big beetles were attacked ba the smell, maybe,
and ended their life in the sweet water.
Only a few. You should see how many flying objects
we have over here ... killing my roses.
😧😧

Well, did rescue this guy, he was stuck on the beach towel.
Towel I use for pool area, sunbathing and yes, I did
go into the water. Talviturkki heitetty!

Photo: Palma-Tiina

Yes, I did ... at one point ... go into the pool. Yes.

The winner in this posting is the nature.
My caper plant did it again: a flower for a day.

Our vegetable garden with potatoes!
Look at the colour! We just put some ordinary
super market potatoes into the earth. Very interesting.

Cala Aguilla in the morning sun oder under the morning sky.
