I tell you, Tenerife can surprise!

MARIPOSARIO - butterfly exhibition

is to be found in the little mountain village Icod de Los Vinos.

It is actually a humid greenhouse.

But the feeling 😃  when you get in and see all those amazing

butterflies flying around you. Soundless. 

And you start chasing them with your camera.

I tell you, not an easy task! 

Feeding stations are the easiest photo spots.

Not only butterflies but also flies ...

When these guys, morpho pheleides (see the first pic), 

fly, you can see the bright blue wings.

But they fly so fast, seem to be the most nervous fellas,

even when filming you cannot catch their pretty wings.

These ones do not have a mouth so they only live for max 6 days.

Only six days.

Hanging there, becoming butterflies.

Amazing nature.

This town is also known for the old Dragon Tree.

Next to the tree you can relax in this stylish bistro, with background jazz.

If you have time. We gave up after 45 minutes waiting

for the food. My tripadvisor resume recommends this location

to invest in professional staff. No wonder the food did not

come as the young cook had to operate the cashier point

as well and the young waiter had to run somewhere

to get the wine bottles ... when owners entertaining their

very important customers at one table. OMG.

Auditorio de Tenerife

Not only sss (sangria, sand and sexonthebeach).

Tenerife offers some awesome objects.

Like this auditorium building in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Die Außenhaut des Gebäudes ist mit Trencadís verkleidet. Die Millionen 

Bruchstücke weißer Kacheln verleihen dem Gebäude seine strahlende 

Wirkung und sind eine Referenz an den katalanischen Architekten Antonio Gaudi,

 der diese Technik beispielsweise im Park Güell verwendet hatte.

Well, by chance we saw this house in San Andrés, where the same

method has been used for the facade. I think with colours it works

much better, indeed. 

A such a challenging object for all architecture photographers.

We normal, self made wanna-be-hot-photo-shooters have fun as well.

The majestic profile of the auditorium has become an architectural 

symbol of the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island of Tenerife and the 

Canary Islands. It is also regarded as the finest contemporary building 

in the Canary Islands and one of the most emblematic buildings 

of Spanish architecture. 

Well, this Wikipedia author seems to love the auditorium!

Honestly, it is not hard to create something nice looking,

the city of Santa Cruz actually need urgently a serious planner!

The tiny village on San Andrés has maintained its charm.

From the promenade and from the beach you can admire the cruise 

ships, which are parked here for corona reasons.

I find this colorful bridge more admirable.

Here you see a few of the stones at the ocean waterfront which 

have been decorated by pictures of some famous historical people.

Seen Teide national park

Dear followers, my computer seems to be overloaded by all my photos.

I'd love to post more spontaneously but the pics need ages to load.

We are on the beautiful island of Tenerife since Friday.

My first posting from Tenerife is about the Teide.

We can see that volcano mountain even from your hotel.

The drive by car from Puerto de la Cruz lasts already more than an hour.

There we some clouds gathering along the coast line, 

but lucky us: they did not reach Teide!

Exotic landscapes.

There is enough to do and see around and on the mountain!

For the teleférico (cable car) ride you need registration.

That was taken care by our semi-local friends.

The trail from the upper station is only 614 meters but partly quite

challenging, estimated time for climbing up is 30 minutes.

Clouds.

Basically you can see all the Canary Islands from the top of Teide.

This should be Gomera.

No, I never owned hiking boots.

I made it! 3.718 meters above sea level.

The clouds gathered along the coast. Lucky us!

Going down.

The only snow we saw, next to the cable car upper station.

Been there, done that. 

There is really more to see, like these stones:

Mirador Roques de Garcia. Wow.

Back there the Parador Nacional, hotel & restaurant.

Oderazzi's recommendation: spend two days in the area,

stay overnight in this hotel. 

Then you could easy drive up to this Obaservatorio.

You do not have to go hiking, you can see amazing things

from your car, too.

Amazing or bizarre ... this is supposed to be a shoe,

Cinderella's shoe!
