Today big carnival in Finland!!!
Lucky me am in Frankfurt ...
In Finland, 1 May is an official and national holiday.
Apart from Workers' Day (officially: suomalaisen työn päivä,
"day of Finnish labour"), it is also celebrated as a feast of students,
and spring, called vappu.
The national broadcasting company YLE is sending
live action from Helsinki!
Students traditionally place a student cap
on the head of the statue "Havis Amanda"
in Helsinki city center.
And the party goes on and on and on ...!
Havis Amanda is a nude female statue in Helsinki, Finland.
It was sculpted by Ville Vallgren (1855-1940) in 1906 in Paris,
but was not erected at its present location at the Market Square
in Kaartinkaupunki until 1908. Every year on Vappu,
Manta serves as a centrepiece for the celebrations.
Students of the local universities put a cap on the statue
in an elaborate ceremony. (Wikipedia)
Minä täällä juon nakkeja
ja grillaan simaa,
niinkuin pääsiäiseen kuuluu.
Olen puhaltanut paljon selvin päin
ja aion olla ilmapallo.
Hyvää tuttua vapuille!
