Seligenstadt.

Find this sculpture and you are very, very close
to the entrance of the exhibition:

FORMsache

Heute wurde die Ausstellung FORMsache in Seligenstadt eröffnet.
Eine Cooperation zwischen VHS Offenbach und das RegioMuseum.
Tolle Sache, tolle Ausstellung.

Leitung und Kuratorin Merja Herzog-Hellstén

Eröffnung am Mi 31. Januar 2018, um 19 Uhr

Führung durch die Ausstellung am Sa 3. März 2018,
um 14 Uhr mit Merja Herzog-Hellsten.

Unsere Merja in der Mitte.

And here we go, check the following pics.
You'll be convinced that the VHS, Volkshochschule
offers really high quality courses.
For highly motivated people.
Leute, Volkshochschule lohnt sich.

You definitely can see the difference in making.
25 artists were working on this project.

Formsache.

First paper, then ...

Quite surprising materials.

Knitted, indeed.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

VIRKATA = häkeln / crochet

Looks as if somebody really did not get the
tiny stitches right. On purpose.

This is so COOL
This is so inspiring.
Hello you people who collect all kinds of crap.
This is how you turn everything into art!
But, of course, you have to know how.

Another collectors' object.

I truly admired Katja when I saw her working on
her porcelain project, using natural seeds and
getting all those amazing patterns.
And her patience when getting very many broken plates
out of the oven.

In real life Katja is a designer:

Form der Farbe.
Eine Form, die eine Farbe verkörpern soll.

I remember when my friend Suse told me about the first project,
Merja told the group to give a colour a form.
This is Suse's solution for yellow, called The Hand.

Here other colours with given forms.

Here a study on plaster and colour.

Yes, making art is not always just recklessly smashing paint
and dirt on the canvas, no way. Many artists make absolutely
exact calculations and plans. Like here Suse.

Each part has to fit.

Especially if you use hard materials,
no false measurements are allowed.

The RegioMuseum offers perfect space for the exhibition.

There also is a booklet with all facts and background info.

Seligenstadt is calling!!!

Leute, Seligenstadt hat auch eine wunderschöne Altstadt.
Nix wie hin.

Ausstellungsdauer bis So 18. März 2018

Geöffnet Sa + So 11-17 Uhr

Teilnehmende Studierende sind wechselnd an jedem Sa + So

zwischen 14-16 Uhr anzutreffen.

Meanwhile, as I was waiting for my photos to transfer
I did check the statistics of my blog.

Am quite of surprised to see the my most followers
the last weeks every other day (!) are in Italy?!
Que sorpresa.
Am glad the Italians are so interested what a Finn experiences
in Germany and in Spain, and in some other countries, as well.

And Ukraine ... hello friends, nice to meet you, too!

Messestadt Frankfurt

Frankfurt has been well known for its trade fairs for over 800 years.
In the Middle Ages, merchants and businessmen met at the “Römer”,
a medieval building in the heart of the city that served as a market place;
from 1909 onwards, they met on the grounds of the Festhalle Frankfurt,
to the north of Frankfurt Central Station. The first Frankfurt trade fair
to be documented in writing dates back to 11 July 1240, when the Frankfurt
Autumn Trade Fair was called into being by Emperor Frederick II,
who decreed that merchants traveling to the fair were under
his protection. Some ninety years later, on 25 April 1330,
the Frankfurt Spring Fair also received its privilege from
Emperor Louis IV. And from this time onwards, trade fairs were held
in Frankfurt twice a year, in spring and autumn, forming the basic
structure for Messe Frankfurt’s modern consumer goods fairs.

This weekend Christmas is back in town!

Christmasworld is the world’s biggest trend and order platform

for the international seasonal and festive decoration sector.

OMG. This is just ... big.

King Kong.

One of those bands.

How far can you go ...?

Really, how far?
Maybe to Finland?
Well, in the Paperworld a few Finnish companies are present.

Absolutely the very best scissors in the world: FISKARS.

Wrapping and packing.

LOVI.

Lovi Ltd is a family run company based in Northern Finland.
We produce flat packed 3D figures from wood, designed and patented by Anne Paso.

The products are 100% made in Finland and made from the highest Finnish quality,
PEFC -certified birch plywood.
The products are assembled by hands without any tools.
The smallest Lovi products are envelope size and easy to send.
Slotting cleverly together the beautiful Lovi shapes provide a sense
of wonder as they take shape and come alive.

Yes, dishcloth is THE thing that sells.
And Susanna told me that Frankfurt fair really
is the place to sell, worldwide.

Morejoy is born to bring happiness by design.
Beneath the fresh, playful patterns and the modern Scandinavian
design lies even more. Above all Morejoy is a personal messenger
to remind us about the most important thing in life – joy.

Dishclothes.

The wine products are also interesting:

Actually, I am missing the Finnish HIMMELIs from the fair.

This is my paper himmeli design back from 2016 or so.

Not even the Swedes have started the real himmeli business,
this link I found in a German hobby magazine:

Himmelis haben ihren Ursprung in Finnland als traditionelle Dekoration
und wurden früher aus Weizen- oder Roggenstroh hergestellt.
Wir fertigen unsere Himmelis aus gerollten Buchseiten.

Originally made of straw, himmeli is such a pretty decoration,
traditionally only for Christmas time.
Nowadays you can also make to of paper
as plastic gets more and more banned.

For our garden?

Give me a break.
Let's have Easter first!!!

Skating season

°
Time to get the skates out for a ride.

Well, time to buy some new laces as well.
My old skates. From the school days.
Do the counting yourself.

Eissporthalle, ice skating rink in Frankfurt,
indoors, big hall. Almost empty.

Okay, yes, a bit more contrast and colour. Ice.

Very artistic, the structure of the ice in the outdoor hall.

Really, like a map but not really.

Had it almost for me alone.

And then the sun came out!

Just ice.

The smaller hall - just for me again!

Practicing circles and eights and ...
whatever, am a pretty amateur!

Ohjelmissa voidaan suorittaa eritasoisia askeleita:
peruskaari, swing, kaarenvaihto, ristiaskel, chassé, liukuchassé,
ristichassé, mohawk eli kantakäännös, choctaw, kolmonen, vastakolmonen,
käänne, vastakäänne, silmukka, kaksois- ja kolmoiskolmonen.
Wikipedia "Taitoluistelu"

Crossovers are not considered difficult connecting movements
in competitive skating; a program in which the skater predominantly
performs crossovers from one element to the next rather than
more complex steps and turns will be judged to be lacking
in difficulty and choreographic interest.
Wikipedia.

Decoration in the Eissporthalle.
Do not let it disturb, concentrate on the figures, crossovers, jumps.

During the week you can be lucky between 12 and 14 hours,
enjoy the empty ice rinks!
Entrance only 7€ for the whole day.
