Matters of Finnish Time

°

Finnish modern art exhibition has been opened in Frankfurt.
All because of the book fair.
Because of the Finnish literature.
Because now it is the opportunity to show off.

Kunstverein is not a big exhibition hall
but a well known institution
basically presenting local artists.

Nowadays a bit squeezed in between a building site,
the old town is being rebuilt next to the Dome and the Schirn.

Grönlund and Nisunen: "Unstable Matter"
This artwork can be heard through the whole building.

Finnisch für Anfänger:

KUULA = Kugel / metal ball

Matter of Time.
Swiss watch.

Matters of Time.
How much time does the peanut need
before it turns greenish black?

Reflexion.
Mikko Kuorinki's installation room.

Matters of Time.
Video showing garbage handling in Frankfurt.
Yes, local newspapers can be recognized.

Matters of … hearing?
Perfect sound situation for the video installations.

"A view from the Other Side"
Viedo installation by IC-98,
artist due Visa Suonpää and Patrik Söderlund.

Stoa in Turku.
Built in the early nineteenth-century and modeled after Stoa,
the ancient Greek column hall,
it served many social functions over time
and was also left to deteriorate for a number of years.

In 70 minutes you can see the whole story.
70 minutes?!
Please take your time and watch this amazing film.
I quite fancied the mystic organ music.

In the same room huge waves …

Go and see yourself,
do not look for traditional paintings or drawings,
modern art is all videos, installations, photographs.
You'll probably, hopefully find your own favorites.

Chasing rain drops with my camera through our kitchen window.
Lucky to have a neighbor "mit grünem Daumen".

VIHREÄ = grün / green
PEUKALO = Daumen / thumb

On a rainy day it's easier to focus on business.

Station Finnland

in Frankfurt präsentieren.

Bowie plus Helsingfors in Berlin

°

Berlin!
Use public transportation in this huge city.

Only one more moth to go:
DAVID BOWIE
Such colors, such music, such technic.
Worth experiencing!

On my to Martin Gropius Bau: Berliner Mauer.

Naked wall.

Dokumentationszentrum Topographie des Terrors

Between 1933 and 1945, the central institutions of Nazi persecution and terror
– the Secret State Police Office with its own “house prison,”
the leadership of the SS and, during the Second World War, the Reich Security Main Office –
were located on the present-day grounds of the “Topography of Terror”
that are next to the Martin Gropius Building and close to Potsdamer Platz.

The Berlin Wall became an international symbol of the division of Germany
after the Second World War and also of the Cold War between East and West.

Construction of the Berlin Wall began on August 13, 1961.

The government of the German Democratic Republic (GDR)
built this more than 150-kilometer-long barrier to hermetically
seal off East Berlin and the rest of the territory of the GDR.
More than 2.7 million people fled the GDR between October 1949 and August 1961,
the majority of them across the border separating Berlin’s Eastern and Western sectors.
The Wall was designed to halt this stream of refugees
and make it impossible to cross the borders unchecked.

BERLIN!

At the request of the “Topography of Terror,”
the remaining 200 meters of the Wall at Niederkirchnerstraße
– which marked the border between the districts of
Mitte (East Berlin) and Kreuzberg (West Berlin) –
have been preserved with all the traces of the destruction
that occurred during the transitional period.
This fragment of the Wall, designated a historic monument in 1990,
now forms part of the Topography of Terror Documentation Center.
As one of the few surviving sectors of the Wall in the city,
it is also one of the central sites in the “Overall Concept for the Berlin Wall”
developed by the Berlin Senate.

Next time in Berlin have to check this monument.

CURRYWURST.

Helsingfors?

Swedisch for beginners:

HELSINKI = Helsingfors.

Berlin-Friedrichshein.

So that you know where the EU-monies are used for.

These things are park benches,
the ducks were just decoration for the opening day.

Before.
After.
