Nacht der Museen

Die lange Nacht der Museen
www.nacht-der-museen.de

Westhafen Tower had a fotoexhibition, but the line of waiting people outside was too long, we skipped that. Unfortunately. The view over Frankfurt city must have been great.

The weather was great, it was nice to stroll along the river Main.
Museums were pretty crowded, we can visit them any time anyway.
Missed the live music that was performed, too bad.

No, no naked men dancing in the museum parks...
this sculpture belongs to Liebieghaus garden,
it was sort of included to the Feuerperformance of Glütmeister Knuffi.

This is the newest attraction in the restaurant & club scene:

TABLE, restaurant at the Schirn.
This leather curtain can be hang down
and people have their own "separé" ...
Table dancing? Maybe!
www.table-schirn.com

Outside the Schrin there was a wall made of real ice.
Wonder if it's still standing today, we again have a great sunny day in Frankfurt.

Thanks Joschie and Mrs for the FAZ beers!

Connecticut - connect or cut?

USA?
Yes.

Manhattan?
No.
Why?

Because I needed to visit my friend Trish in Connecticut. She moved there already ages ago, like 1,5 years ago, and I also finally needed to meet her little daughter. So, off I went to CT.

Weston in Connecticut, Fairfield. Very cosy, very secure, good schools.

(Wikipedia)

Did you know that Martha Stewart lived there as well?
http://www.marthastewart.com/

BIG houses, really. We did some driving around and I could not believe in what kind of small castles real people live. Amazing. People with money. Family money. Or so. Nice to look at.
And they can afford real art work, too, like Claes Oldenburg ...

This a pretty typical family home in Connecticut.
Ha haa, this is where my friends live. A lot of space, good home, but still pretty much work to be done. Also in the huge garden. (I called it a park immediately.)

And the wiev is awesome, like from our living room, we also have the river.
Their river is called Saugatuck. Indian? Maybe, like many names in US.

Carlos earns the dollars for his nice home and huge garden in the Wall street,
only at weekends there is time to follow sports:

Casey (#22) is in his school's Lacrosse team, so I learned to know a new sport art again.
Check more in Wikipedia:

Lacrosse is a team sport of Native American origin that is played using a small solid rubber ball and a long-handled racquet called a crosse or lacrosse stick. The head of the lacrosse stick is strung with loose netting that is designed to hold the lacrosse ball. Offensively, the object of the game is to use the lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by ultimately hurling the ball into an opponent's goal. Defensively the object is to keep the opposing team from scoring and to dispossess them of the ball through the use of stick checking and body contact or positioning. There are three main versions of the sport; men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and box lacrosse.

Saturdaysports:
Trish used to be a great soccer player, so guess what her little daughter has to learn ...!
In the pic above you can see some Connecticut items:
a lot of cute little kids, attending sport activities with their young, attracive parents;
see a dad wearing a German Fussball Trikot = international community;
see the pregnant woman = baby Pernille was born on Monday;
pink ball and pink pants ... etc etc etc ...

The three years' group did a goooooood job!

It is probably not only in America, but life has changed:
we used to blow the soap bubbles ourselves,
nowadays the tigers are doing it for you. Easy living!

Casey told me there are faaaaar moooore bigger grills than this one.
Okay. Everything is big in America.

We visited the smallest state in US: Rhode Island, and stayed overnight in Newport.
Tourist season has not yet started, construction work is still going on.

Rhode Island belongs to New England, in the area there are loads of english names, the main street of Newport is called Thames Street. Sort of funny.
New England is a region of the United States located in the northeastern corner of the country, bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Canada and New York State, and consisting of the modern states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. (Wikipedia)

Newport is not only known for the traditional Newport Jazz Festival, the main tourist attractions are the Mansions, like this famous Breakers Mansion. Amazing historical sites.
http://www.newportmansions.org/

Sailing is big in Newport. Is it expensive? If you ask the price you cannot afford it...

Lobster is the thing, not only in Rhode Island, but everywhere in this coastal area.
I am low mainentance. No seafood!

Three years old kids can be very cute or very crabby!
It was really cool to play with Sam!

Mummy can sometimes even fly ... the beaches of Westport are close and nice, but the beach season seems to be pretty short in the eastcoast.

MYSTIC PIZZA?!

We had it!!! On our way from Newport back to Weston before the outlet stores ... we had to have a slice of mystic pizza!

(Wikipedia)
